DUTY INSTRUCTIONS ON A DANCE NIGHT – FRONTIER TWIRLERS  

The following instructions are not valid until all regulations are lifted.


NOTE:  When you are on any of the following duties on a dance night, you are asked to bring 2 doz finger-food goodies of your choice marking anything that contain nuts.

HOST/HOSTESS:
  • Need to arrive no later than 7:15pm (hall should be open);
  • Set up the chairs around the hall if not already done.
  • Get out the club tablecloth, the dance price sign, the “No Flash Photography” sign, club sign-in board and the Guest Book from the kitchen cupboard and place these items on the small table by the front door
  • Get the host/hostess badges out of the kitchen cupboard; remember to put them back before going home.
  • Welcome all square dancers and ask the guests to sign the guest book;
  • Watch for latecomers so that you can personally greet them after they enter.
  • Keep an eye open for early leavers, so that you can thank them for coming.
  •  Promptly, as soon as coffee time is finished, attend the door to thank our guests for coming.​

 HALL CLEANUP (Zamboni):
  •  ​As soon as dancers are starting to exit and after the tables have been put back, sweep/dry mop the main and side floor; when doing this, all the chairs need to be moved away from the wall and put back again.
  • Sweep the kitchen floor.
  • If it is a special dance, help as well with the taking down of the decorations

KITCHEN:
  • Make coffee and tea according to instructions on the inside of the kitchen cupboard door; full details as to amounts etc are indicated
  • Boil the kettle during the evening so it doesn’t take long to boil when it’s time for tea at refreshment time (10 pm)
  • Arrange for food table(s) to be set up during the last tip, cover with table cloths (if desired) and set out goodies, napkins and paper plates when necessary;
  • Remain after to clean-up the kitchen and put everything away;
  • Coffee grounds and tea bags are put into the bucket under the kitchen sink
  • Take home any used tea towels, etc to wash and return them to the cupboard at the next dance or bring your own
  • Take home the garbage for disposal at your home
  • EXTRA LUNCH:  As stated above, bring 2 doz. finger-food goodies of your choice
